I went to feed him as usual on Saturday, and he could barely get up. I checked him, and he seemed fine--no injuries, nothing obviously wrong. He licked my hand and laid down again. But he didn't even try to eat food, didn't even drink milk, his favourite. I gave him a kiss and a hug, and I told him goodbye. I knew he might be on his way to doggie heaven soon. I sometimes forget that Boy was 12 years old. He died the following day. He had a good life, at least the last few years. I miss him already.
